Bill Gates is 2nd richest person in world today with net worth of $104.4 Billion . Bill Gates was born on 28thOctober 1955, at Seattle Washington. His full name is William Henry Gates. His father was William Henry Gates Senior and his mother was Mary Maxell Gates.
He went to Lakeside school Seattle, which was best school of that time. Bill Gates was intelligent as a student. In 1969 he started his High school. This was the year when Neil Armstrong and Edwin Eldrin became first people to walk on the Moon. Computers played major role in this mission to moon. Bill Gates was fascinated by this event and took admission in computer class and his interests in computer grew day by day. One day in computer class Bill Gate met Paul Allen. Even though they had completely different personality, they became good friends due to common interest in computers. In 1970 when Bill Gates was only 15 year old, he and Paul Allen, made computer program called Traf-O-Data, which read data from traffic counters and created reports for traffic engineers. For the program he got twenty thousand dollars, which was his first income.
In 1973 Bill Gates completed his high school and got admission into Harvard University. His parents wanted him to study law but he had little interest in law. He spent most of the time at Harvard computer center. In 1974, Ed Roberts Company was looking for program that could run on their Altiar 8800 computer. Bill and Allen contacted Ed Roberts Company and started working on basic program that could run Altiar 8800 computer. The program that they made started working on Altiar 8800 computer. He wanted to earn from each and every computer IBM sold, so IBM started to pay License fee to Microsoft for each and every computer they sold with MS- DOS. In mid-1981 Bill Gates became president and Paul Allen became Executive Vice President of Microsoft Company. By 1983 turnover of Microsoft increased form four million to sixteen million dollars. 30% of computers that was sold at that time had Microsoft operating system in them. Bill Gates was only 28 years old at that time. In 1984, when there was high demand of their software, unfortunately Paul suffered from disease that was categorized under cancer. One year later Paul started to recover but could not participate actively in Company, so he left Microsoft.
Microsoft made sales worth one hundred forty million dollars in 1985. In 1986, Microsoft launched Windows operating system, by which computers could be operated by mouse. Windows made Microsoft reach into new heights. Bill Gates kept 45 % of total stock with him, which made him Billionaire at the age of 31. In 1987 Microsoft had to face major crisis as IMB replaced Microsoft MS-DOS with IBM OS/2. Bill Gates didn’t give up and started to upgrade Windows and on 22nd may 1990 launched, Microsoft Windows 3.0. With launch of Microsoft Windows 3.0, sales of IBM OS/2 started to fall. Microsoft Windows 3.0 became the most popular operating system.
In 1994 Bill Gates married Melinda French. Few months later in the same year, Bill Gate’s mother died because of Breast cancer.
